On September 19th, Theater Pub will stage readings of two hilarious works born in a place much like our Cafe Royale: the Caffe Cino in Greenwich Village. Playwright Lanford Wilson helped launch “Off-Off-Broadway” in the early 60’s with his short plays written for this coffee-shop turned music venue, turned immersive theater (sound familiar?).
In honor of Lanford’s passing this year, and in honor of this lineage of the Cafe Royale, we’ll stage Home Free! and Ludlow Fair, two plays about roommates, studio apartments, and a need to connect in the midst of a bustling, perhaps dangerous city.
Home Free!, a story with a surprise box, and other surprises, will star Claire Rice and Matt Gunnison as agoraphobic brother and sister. Ludow Fair, a story with self-administered rorschach tests and advice wars, will star Megan Cohen and Ashley Cowan as cohabitating neurotics.
Don’t miss this one night only event and remember, Theater Pub is always free but get there early so you can get a seat!
