Woven by local writer Stuart Bousel from the words of William Shakespeare’s Henry IV Parts I and I and Henry V, this new take on a classic tale will mark San Francisco Theater Pub’s most ambitious undertaking: THE BOAR’S HEAD
In an era of political unrest and international warfare, a young prince comes of age under the wing of a jovial drunk and his entourage of petty thieves. Torn between a life of freedom and a lifetime of duty, Hal’s pathway to discovery leads him through practical jokes, family tragedies and cavalier romance towards the ever-ambiguous happy ending of adulthood.
Our second full production of the season, THE BOAR’S HEAD runs for a mere five performances – May 16, 17, 23, 30 and 31. In this one of a kind site-specific event, the entire bar transforms into the world of the Boar’s Head Tavern in Eastcheap, the water hole of Hal, Falstaff, and their companions.
THE BOAR’S HEAD is directed by Jessica Richards and features Sarah Kate Anderson, Larissa Archer, Ted Barker, Tonyanna Borkovi, Stuart Bousel, Nick Dickson, Derek Fisher, Bennett Fisher, Paul Jennings and Trish Tillman.
THE BOAR’S HEAD performs on May 16, 17, 23, 30 and 31 at 8pm each night in the Cafe Royale Bar (800 Post, at Leavenworth). Admission is free, but arrive early to ensure a seat.
